HR managers also create career development plans and opportunities for employees to help them advance their careers within the organization. This function is critical in ensuring that the organization has a skilled and motivated workforce.
HR departments are also responsible to ensure that performance management standards of employees are being assessed throughout the organization. The HR Department will establish performance standards, monitor employee performance, and provide feedback to employees to help improve their performance. HR managers in consultation with other departments will also conduct performance appraisals and identify training needs based on an employee’s performance. The HR department also plays a vital role in disciplining employees who fail to meet performance standards.
Employee Relations are core functions of HR departments and they are responsible for maintaining positive relationships between employees and the organization. They handle employee grievances and disputes and ensure that the organization’s policies and procedures are fair and consistent. HR managers also promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace, which helps to create a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
The HR department are also responsible for designing and implementing compensation and benefit packages. They research and analyze market trends to determine the appropriate compensation and benefit packages that attract and retain top talent. HR managers administer benefits programs, and ensure that the organization complies with all the applicable relevant laws and regulations and can also manage the payroll process in smaller organizations that lack a Finance department.
